FAC announces new partnership with next-generation music entertainment company, SoundCloud
Today, The FAC is delighted to welcome a new chapter for the creator community, by announcing a partnership with SoundCloud, a next-generation music entertainment company. SoundCloud headlined sponsorship of the 2021 Artist & Manager Awards, jointly hosted by the FAC and MMF, and shares FAC’s vision for empowering artists and delivering value, education and resources to a diverse artist community.
SoundCloud and FAC will partner to offer unique opportunities for artists to network, build communities, and grow their fan-powered careers. Artists can participate in educational workshops hosted by SoundCloud’s music team where artists can learn tips and tricks for growing their careers, attend intimate networking events with influential industry members, engage in roundtable discussions with FAC’s artist-led advisory board, BEAT (Breakthrough and Emerging Artists Together), get amplification across FAC editorial properties, and more.
The FAC has been a long-term campaigner on behalf of artists, calling for an increase in transparency and change when it comes to fair payment. Likewise, SoundCloud offers innovative ways for independent and emerging artists at every level and across every genre to make a living through their audiences and take their careers to the next level. Introduced in 2021, SoundCloud’s first-to-market innovative new pay model, Fan-powered Royalties, ties creator payouts directly to fandom, offering a more equitable and transparent way for the 150K+ independent creators who monetize on SoundCloud to get paid directly by their fan base. Alongside a full suite of tools and services from monetization and distribution to audience development, marketing, promotion opportunities, data and insights and more, SoundCloud is the premier place for artists to build and grow their careers on and off the platform on their own terms.
David Martin, CEO, FAC said: “At the FAC, our role is to champion artists’ unique talents. No two artists are the same and we understand that the ways in which artists shape their businesses are equally diverse. There is no longer a one-size fits all model to succeeding as music creator.
With the unprecedented growth in digital music consumption in the last decade, we see many new ways in which music makers earn from their work, but also more complexity. We have campaigned for greater transparency and more innovative methods of expediting payments to creators, therefore welcoming SoundCloud as an FAC partner is a natural fit.
SoundCloud launched as a platform for artists by artists, and as we’ve grown into a next- generation entertainment company, we continue to put artists at the forefront of all we do and find innovative ways to accelerate their careers,” says Erika Montes, Global VP of Artist and Label Partnerships at SoundCloud. “We’re excited to team up with an artist-first organization like FAC to empower artists to grow by providing new opportunities for them to connect, learn, network, and build their communities on and off SoundCloud.”
