“Produced By” Fraser T Smith - a new documentary film by Amazon Music
After pioneering Amazon Music UK’s new ‘Produced By’ series, a new documentary following the award winning and hugely respected producer, Fraser T Smith has been released earlier this week. The film follows Fraser’s story from his early days as Craig David’s guitarist, to writing number one records with Adele, Tinchy Stryder, Stormzy and more, and features candid thoughts from Fraser on performing live with Dave at the 2020 BRITs ceremony.
On his Amazon Music ‘Produced By’ series Fraser said: “The Amazon Originals EP has been, hand on heart, an amazing experience. Myself and every artist involved has launched themselves creatively into this project and I think we’ve made an EP that stands up against any of the EPs I've ever made. I wanted it to be a celebration of new artists that are really coming to the fore in 2021. These four artists represent what’s so exciting about this year in music and I think to have captured a snapshot of their genius on record and to be able to put that together has been an absolute blessing.”
The documentary features commentary from a selection of Fraser’s collaborators including Rita Ora, Stormzy, Leona Lewis, Craig David, James Morrison and Dave alongside his ‘Produced By’ proteges Avelino, Mysie, Joy Crookes and Easy Life.
Rita Ora said working with Fraser on ‘Shine Your Light’: “was just pure, organic, natural vibes. He really is a special person. He’s got a lot of time for people, whether they’re brand new or whether they’ve been in the industry for a long while, he treats everyone the same.”
On Fraser’s ability to work within any genre Leona Lewis said: “We just had a connection. He got where I wanted to go musically and helped me carve out that vision for myself and that’s one of the things I love about him. He’s so easy to get along with and he’s kind of genreless so I loved that I could pick his brain about different genres and the sounds that he uses and how warm everything sounds.”
Ricky Wilson commented: “Working with Fraser was literally a life-changing moment. It was like having a fantastic teacher at school that you remember for all your life and has a real effect on you.”
Craig David has worked with Fraser as a guitarist and producer. He said: “For me, what makes Fraser so special is that he listens, no matter what walk of life you're coming from or what story you're about to tell. He’ll allow the creativity of the artist to shine through and then elaborate on it.”
After working with Fraser on his number one album, Gang Signs and Prayers, Stormzy said: “Working with this guy is beautiful, honestly beautiful. If you guys see us in the studio it's a beautiful, beautiful partnership. He’s allowed me to realise my true ability, my true talents - he’s pushed me. I always say if it wasn’t for Fraser, I don’t think I ever would have been able to realise the artist that I could truly be.“
In the first UK ‘Produced By’ series, Fraser chose UK artists across genres to collaborate with on four tracks - Avelino’s ‘Day Ones’, Mysie’s ‘A Thousand Miles’, Easy Life’s ‘No Smiling’ and Joy Crookes’ ‘Looking for a 10’. Amazon Music listeners can find the tracks on the ‘Produced By’ Fraser T Smith playlist. Customers can also simply ask Alexa, “play the ‘Produced By’ Fraser T Smith playlist'' in the Amazon app for iOS and Android and on Alexa-enabled devices. In addition to the ‘Produced By’ series, Amazon Music listeners can access hundreds of Amazon Originals featuring both emerging and established artists across numerous genres, available to stream and purchase only on Amazon Music.
