FAC & Metropolis Studios session with Mike Hillier & Richard Reed Parry

We are partnering with Metropolis Studios on an exclusive and intimate series of immersive audio demonstrations.

Our first session will take place on Friday, September 9th with Canadian artist, multi-instrumentalist, composer and producer Richard Reed Parry, perhaps best known as a core member of the Grammy Award-winning indie rock band Arcade Fire.

Richard Reed Parry will join us to mix and master one of his songs in Atmos in front of five PRO FAC Members.

The session will be hosted by leading Metropolis Studios Atmos Engineer Mike Hillier, in the studio's 11.1.8 mix room which launched last summer.

Mike has acts including Kasabian, Faithless, The Cinematic Orchestra, Jockstrap, Nothing But Thieves, Pip Millett, Bastille, Bonobo, Rag ‘n’ Bone Man, Jungle, Kokoroko and Disclosure.

The session will cover:

  • The Atmos room and why high resolution is so important for immersive audio

  • Object-based mixing and why it's different from previous immersive audio formats

  • Mix workflow with Richard Reed Parry: the process, our approach, and techniques

  • Is Atmos Mastering a thing?

  • Demos

Mike has an incredible wealth of knowledge in immersive audio, so this is also a great opportunity to come armed with questions!

FAC PRO Members can apply for one of the five free tickets for this event by emailing us.  To help us pick the five lucky ones who will attend this session in person, please let us know in your email which album in a dream scenario you would love to hear mixed in 3D and why? You can find the FAC team's favourite album choices under their profiles on the FAC website.

The session will take place on the afternoon of Friday 9th September between 3:30-6pm.

Due to the limited nature, please only apply if you can attend the session.

Metropolis would also like to extend a bespoke FAC Atmos Album Mix Offer to all FAC Members.  To access this, please contact us.
