Introducing: The BEAT Board

The BEAT Board (Breakthrough & Emerging Artists Together) was formed in 2016 and consists of a group of emerging and independent artists, ranging from first EP release to first stadium tour. The BEAT Board aims to represent a new generation of artist entrepreneurs and acts as an advisory board to the FAC, in order to ensure that young artists are being heard and represented properly within the FAC.

The BEAT Board meets once a month in London, but is also in the process of appointing regional BEAT Board directors in order to create a strong network of emerging artists across the country.

BEAT Board In Action

Since inception, the BEAT Board has successfully partnered with PRS for Music for a workshop on PRS & PPL registration and is working on rolling out quarterly workshops for emerging artists for 2018.

The BEAT Board is also part of a wider music industry initiative, The UK Music's Future Group. Lisbee Stainton and Frank Hamilton have attended Future Music Group discussions, in order to give the artist entrepreneur's point of view.

Jeremy Pritchard (Everything Everything), initially a BEAT Board Director, has since been voted onto the FAC main board (he's graduation, so to speak!). BEAT Board Director Lauren Deakin-Davies has started getting involved in the MPG, wearing her producer hat.

Emerging artists are the future of the FAC. The BEAT Board is an exciting way to engage younger members and to create a path for them to get involved more and inform FAC policies and even become future FAC Board members. We hope to create a healthy eco system where experienced and emerging artists work together to create a fairer landscape for all creatives.

The BEAT Board is run by FAC Board Director Roxanne de Bastion. If you would like to know more or get involved please contact Roxanne by emailing us with “BEAT Board” in the subject line.
