FAC Insights: My golden rule with Benny Bizzie

FAC Insights is a forum for us to showcase and share long form pieces looking at various parts of the music industry and the society that shapes it. Pieces take the form of videos, interviews, discussions, articles and more. This time we have a very special contribution by Rich Legate from Attitude is Everything and Benny Bizzie, one of our dual artist ambassadors.

My Golden Rule with Benny Bizzie

We’re marking two years since the FAC announced a strategic partnership with music charity Attitude is Everything. To mark the occasion we’ve reached out to artists in AiE’s Next Stage network, to highlight their work and the discover how they navigate the industry.

A research project led by AiE in 2019 shone a light on the experience of Deaf, disabled and neurodivergent artists. The findings highlighted the barriers that music makers with access requirements were facing and the messages they wanted to send to the industry. Nearly every single artist who was part of the research said that things will only change if disabled artists become more visible and are given the platform to share their experiences.

During September we’ll be introducing you to a variety of artists and their one golden rule for navigating the music industry.

First up is London based R&B singer and songwriter: Benny Bizzie. He has a track record of radio support and a bunch of creative connections - including Ghetts, Rapid, Skepta and many more. Recently, Benny has been awarded Help Musicians UK’s MOBO funding and is currently building up to the release of a new EP.

Here’s Benny’s Golden Rule:
Don’t neglect parts of yourself. Embody all parts of yourself: the good, the bad, the quirky, the crazy - it’s what makesyou you and that’s special.
