The REMEL Report
Project REMEL (Race Equality in Music Event Licensing) is a multi-agency initiative addressing racial inequalities in the licensing, regulation and policing of live music events across London.
Established in 2023 following a joint letter from the Musicians’ Union and Black Lives in Music to the Mayor of London, REMEL brings together the Greater London Authority (GLA), Metropolitan Police Service, UK Music, LIVE, the Musicians’ Union, artists, promoters, venue operators and community representatives to examine how licensing practices affect Black and South Asian music within the larger music ecosystem.
