UK Music Manifesto for Music in Scotland

UK Music has launched a five-point plan in its Manifesto for Music Scotland ahead of the 7th May Holyrood elections, aiming to create thousands of jobs and boost economic growth. The organisation is calling on parliamentary candidates to support measures that strengthen Scotland’s music sector, including improved music education and policies to protect creators from AI misuse.

Music tourism continues to play a major economic role, with 2.3 million visitors generating £857 million and supporting more than 7,000 jobs in 2024. The manifesto also proposes a Scottish Music Production Fund, removing barriers to EU touring, and placing music at the centre of Scotland’s tourism strategy.
