Cultural Freelancers Report 2024
Arts Council England commissioned researchers at the University of Essex to undertake the Cultural Freelancers Study.
The study aimed to examine the challenges and opportunities experienced by creative and cultural practitioners in England working across the Arts Council’s funded disciplines. The study consisted of three parts: a literature review, a survey with over 5000 respondents, and focus groups and interviews with 200 freelancers. It will be repeated every three years, gathering longitudinal data about the lives and experiences of freelancers.
