About this event
Open Artist Sessions (now Online Artist Sessions!) are monthly, intimate and informal Q&A's for FAC PRO members with an experienced artist or industry figure. They aim to provide education, advice and help to nurture our artist community. They are free and exclusively for artists. Spaces are limited, so we recommend signing up quickly to secure a spot.
About Emma McGann
Infusing undeniably anthemic pop melodies with brave and beautiful storytelling, Midlands based songwriter Emma McGann is an award nominated artist and livestreamer whose pop anthems have earned recognition and praise from fierce female forces in the industry, including Kyle Minogue, Nancy Sinatra and Beth Hart. Crafting songs that inspire bravery and encourage us to celebrate our imperfections, Emma’s performances convey an infectious charisma entwined with vibrant pop sensibility and are a refreshing flash of colour in a world of same old, same old.
Embracing her inner-misfit, Emma has passionately carved a non-traditional path of her own as an independent artist in order to connect and grow her audience in a powerful and meaningful way through live streaming - a path she talks about in her TEDx Talk ‘Livestreaming my Life’. With her unique approach to making a living from music, she is a shining example of how to rock the boat as a self-made artist in the age of independence. Striving to be at the forefront of new technologies, McGann has created VR content for fans, is an investor in the 'Props Project' and is also one of the few artists in the world to offer fans an interactive Amazon Alexa Skill, called 'Emma McGann Backstage'.
Since graduating with a first in Music Composition and Professional Practise, her journey as an independent artist has seen her gain over 11 million views across her livestreams, BBC R1 airplay, a winning place on YouTube NextUp London (2017), nominations for various awards in the U.S. including 3 Shorty Awards and an iHeartRadio Music Award in 2017 and the MEGS Award from the British Phonographic Industry and UK Department of Trade in 2018.
Emma McGann said: '‘I know full well that navigating this industry independently can be an overwhelming challenge for new and upcoming artists. I don’t want them to find themselves lost along the way. So I’m very proud to be an Advocate Artist for an organisation that values transparency, actively informs and advises the community and amplifies our voices as artists. I’m thrilled to be working alongside the FAC and hope to assist as many artists out there as I can to find their own path, rise above the noise and enjoy themselves along the way. ‘‘
