Council of Music Makers: Getting paid by PPL

  • PPL’s offices at 1 Upper James Street London, England, W1F 9DF United Kingdom (map)

This is a free webinar from the Council Of Music Makers for members of the Featured Artists Coalition, The Ivors Academy, the Musicians’ Union, the Music Producers Guild and the Music Managers Forum on how to make sure you’re getting paid correctly by PPL.

A session from PPL and the Council Of Music Makers exploring how accurate metadata, performer role allocations and up-to-date registrations play a critical role in ensuring music-makers are paid correctly when recordings are broadcast or played in public.

This free session for members of The Ivors Academy, FAC, MMF, MPG and MU will explain the ‘label copy’ collected for new releases, the information required by PPL, and how different performer and contributor roles are defined and registered.

It will also highlight why accurate registrations are so important - particularly for international income and royalty distribution - and why music-makers and their managers should regularly review their data to avoid missed or incorrect payments.

Alongside practical guidance and advice on best practice, there will also be opportunities to ask questions about performer roles, processes, common issues and how to keep release information accurate and up to date.
